Films From LA LA LAND

Films From LA LA LAND is a theoretical film series screening featuring movies that take place in Los Angeles, and have become sort of archetypal in their portrayal of themes in the city. The title of the festival is a play on the nick-name L.A. has procured, “la la land”.

I sought to make Los Angeles the main focus of these posters by selecting and creating imagery that captured certain memes about the city while at the same time making a nod to the specific film. This was a great opportunity to exercise some painting, drawing, and illustration skills. 

The hand-drawn typography is a nod to the human hands involved in making these films, and the Los Angelians depicted in them.
